Kill the Messenger (2014) Film is an adaptation of Nick Schou’s book “Kill the Messenger: How the CIA’s Crack-Cocaine Controversy Destroyed Journalist Gary Webb.” Directed by Michael Cuesta and starring Jeremy Renner as a reporter who reveals the CIA’s involvement in importing cocaine into the US in the 1980s leading to his demise. Paz Vega co-stars.

I don’t really like films about politics, drugs… Anyway! But I’m glad I saw this film once.

The actors are all good. Both the main character’s wife and his children.

So much for the actors I didn’t know. As for the ones I do know: Jeremy Renner & Mary Elizabeth Winstead are always very good, if not incredible. Nice to see Oliver Platt in one of the minor but important roles. As for the actors we see between 5 and 10 minutes, it’s great to see Robert Patrick, Andy Garcia (almost unrecognizable!), Barry Pepper, Michael Sheen & Ray Liotta again and again. On the other hand, I’ve never liked Paz Vega to date!

Maybe that’ll change one day…Good film! Interesting to see, once again, all the corruption, manipulation and abuse of power. My rating 3 out of 5 stars.
