Demon Lake a.k.a. Blood Conscious (2021)

“Demon Lake” aka Blood Conscious (2021) Amazing! Watching this film, you’d think it was Jordan Peele. And even Oghenero Gbaje is reminiscent of Daniel Kaluuya, his favorite actor in the fairly good ‘Get Out‘ and the very bad ‘Nope‘.

I don’t know if this is Timothy Covell‘s first film, but it’s off to a pretty bad start. The film starts off very interesting, but you soon realize that the acting is rather ridiculous.

After that, things get a little better. Only the actress, DeShawn White, does well throughout.

The film is sprinkled with interesting dialogue here and there… but sometimes it’s lacking. No sex scenes and not too much gore, those are good points for me. But it does go on at some length, even though it’s a short film.

What’s more, we don’t get the answers to the questions. And the very end drags on and comes to a screeching halt, just when it was getting really interesting. I don’t know if I’m being clear enough…

Basically, something happens at the end that we were hoping would happen… but then it stagnates and we’re left wanting more.

So that’s that! Nice, but nothing more and not necessarily worth recommending.
