The Last Victim (2021) A group of outlaws and their sociopathic leader are pursued by a sheriff trying to solve the worst case his town has ever seen. When a young couple crosses their path, they are drawn into a cycle of violence where survival is the only option.

The violence in this film is relatively gratuitous, and the killers have far from good reasons for doing what they do. The film has some length, and I would have liked to see Ron Perlman and Ali Larter a lot more because these two really shine with their performances. They are both exceptional, and it’s a pity that we don’t see them together beforehand.

Camille Legg has a very surprising role; she’s a total blast in this role, while Dakota Daulby is annoying as hell. However, as I don’t know this actor, or at least I don’t think I do, it’s hard to say if he’s overacting or if his character is totally tortured.

Ralph Ineson is recognizable to fans of The Office, where he had a role from 2001 to 2003, and Harry Potter fans saw him in the sixth film of the saga. He also appeared in Game of Thrones as Dagmer Cleftjaw in season 2. In short, this is not the first time this actor has played the role of the big bad here, the despicable guy who leads the other equally despicable characters.

The other actors in the film have all been good-looking guys in real life or in other films, but here, none of them play with that. There’s really a Western, action, crime, thriller side to it. At every moment, I was afraid that the ending would be bad because we have this kind of ending that never ends. Every time you think it’s over, there’s another detail to deal with. But I was fine with the ending!

There’s even a nice touch of humour after so much tragedy, which I welcomed. 2021 still had some good films!

Rating: 4 out of 5.
