Breaking the Girls (2013) is a sultry thriller in the style of Basic Instinct. But in lesbian/LGBTQA mode. The trio of lead actors: Agnes Bruckner, Shawn Ashmore, and Madeline Zima.

Agnes: always very accurate in her performances. Here, she’s in bisexual mode… and it’s funny because she’s pursuing a lesbian role in the failed series “The Returned.” You might wonder if this isn’t what ended her career. Because despite her efforts and performances, this is not a good film, and the series is not a good series.

It’s funny because she’s always charming, unlike Madeline, who is very icy here. Her first name means Winter in Polish, the country she says she comes from. She has appeared in several series, including Californication. But she also appeared in the film Scandal with the magnificent trio of Charlize Theron, Nicole Kidman & Margot Robbie.

And speaking of trio, at the age of 6, she played the little girl alongside Rebecca De Mornay, Annabella Sciorra, and Julianne Moore in the very good film The Hand that Rocks the Cradle.

As for Shawn, unfortunately for him, it’s in a superhero role that I remember most. Another funny thing, since I mentioned coldness, is that he played… Iceman!!!

Nice actors, very good film for an hour.

In fact, the first hour is great. The last 20 minutes are catastrophic!

There are a few too many plot twists, and the last one is really far-fetched. Instead of making it a masterpiece, it just makes it a pretty good film.

What a shame!

Rating: 3 out of 5.
