Jerry & Marge Go Large (2022) is a very nice film, but I still expected something better. Yes, something even better. I almost regret giving it only three stars because that says it all: it’s a good film… but it’s not extraordinary. However, it’s a film to see once. Bryan Cranston is very good in this role. I don’t think I know this actor (because, once again, I haven’t seen Breaking Bad!), but I think this role was made for him.

As for Annette Bening, she’s once again in one of her best roles, I think. An actress who doesn’t mind aging and still manages to look totally sparkling on screen. In contrast, I feel that any actress could have played Anna Camp‘s role here. This actress is better known for her two marriages and two divorces than for anything else, in my eyes. How sad! I liked Jake McDorman, who is known for having played in many series, but also in Die Hard 4 with Bruce Willis and as a sniper in an Oscar-winning Clint Eastwood film. Great!

I won’t dwell on all the actors, although Uly Schlesinger is almost perfect in his role as the obnoxious, arrogant young student. Larry Wilmore is funny as the accountant who doesn’t appreciate numbers as much as his boss, and Rainn Wilson manages to be endearing and insufferable at the same time. He played in My Super Ex-Girlfriend, but also in Super!. He has acted under the direction of Ivan Reitman, but also under the direction of his son, Jason Reitman.

There’s also an appearance by singer Tori Kelly, who plays herself and sings a wonderful version of “Dream a Little Dream” at a concert. So much for this film. All in all: a nice little film, based on a true story, worth seeing once. And it makes you think: do great scientific minds really have a better chance of winning the lottery (or even the casino) with their theories?

Rating: 4 out of 5.
