Deadfall (2012) is an action thriller also known as “Cold Blood”.
Not bad at all! I also enjoyed Patient Zero (2018) by Stefan Ruzowitzky.
Eric Bana: if we only know him for his role as Super Hero Hulk, it’s a nice change to see him back in the lead role, but as the villain.
Incidentally, it’s quite interesting to see villains being the main characters, as in Clockwork Orange (1971). On a different level of villainy, though!
Olivia Wilde: an actress with extra charisma, she’s always sublime and always sublimates her roles at the same time. An actress we’d like to see more of. I say that because it seems to me that she also has a lot of small roles.
Kate Mara, the same: excellent in this role.
Sissy Spacek, apparently an excellent actress! She was in the wonderful The Straight Story (1999), but also in 3 Women (1977), Nashville Lady (1980) and of course Carrie (1976) for which she is well known. She’s got quite a career. There’s a lot to dig out!
As for the film, it’s gripping. It’s a good crime thriller from the thugs’ point of view. Then there are the changes of direction, the more human side that sometimes comes back in the face of children, a mother in distress or true love met by chance on the road. A bit mushy, you say? Love stories usually are, I think!
Snow, violence: it reminds me of Fargo (1996)!
Snow, money… and that takes me back to A Simple Plan (1998)!
It’s not a masterpiece… but it never bored me.
