The Aquatic Effect / L’Effet aquatique (2016)

The Aquatic Effect or L’Effet aquatique – This French movie is also half Icelandic. Still a disaster! The title may be translated by: “The Water Effect.” Despite some good moments, a good mix of French and Icelandic culture, as well as touching moments, this is by far not a good film. Indeed, many good moments are spoiled by boring or annoying ones.

Besides, the film only lasts 1 hour and 19 minutes, including the credits. But after an hour, I had the impression that an hour and a half had passed long ago. The two main characters are almost unbearable, even though they become more and more endearing in the end. It’s with great sorrow that I give it just two stars; I could have given it even less. I could have given it even less, but I might still watch the sequel one day. But it’s not in my priority. The sequel might make me feel better about this film and make it more interesting.
