A great movie, great actors. We’re all getting old, folks!!!!
No. Seriously, this movie had to get an award for Best Foreign Film and I think it’s well deserved. Although most of the actors are apparently American, the film is a production that comes a bit from Italy, France, Great Britain and even Switzerland. And that’s just the beginning!
Michael Caine at the top of his game. He really is one of the great actors. Incredibly natural.
Harvey Keitel, I’ve never been a huge fan of his, even though I really like Reservoirs Dogs and adore From dusk till dawn. But I really liked him in this film.
Rachel Weisz: same thing, I’ve never been a big fan.
That said, it’s always good to see her, and here she gives a very fine acting performance.
Paul Dano: I don’t think he has anything left to prove.
This actor can still act, and he’s not at all afraid to get his feet wet and take on the unknown.
Jane Fonda: she’s a terrible, understandable person in this film. She’s become quite bitter after being broken by the world of work, and particularly by the world of cinema.
As for Poppy Corby-Tuech & Veronika Dash, we don’t see that much of them, so I can’t really judge their performances. I don’t think they’ve been in many films. If this is their first, it’s a pretty good choice… or maybe it’s just a lucky break.
This film is touching, interesting, well put together with very nice dialogue.
I’m just not convinced by the ending… which left me a little disappointed.
I would have liked to know more about the future of each of the characters.
But the film remains good. Right up to the last second.
What’s more, the last ten seconds are a really good idea.
