A spirit who has taken on the guise of the Tooth Fairy returns regularly to exact revenge on a town that hanged him 150 years earlier. However, a child survived this evil spirit and now, having become a man, he is once again the target…
I didn’t really want to see this film… but I was delighted and surprised when I saw Emma Caulfield! Indeed, this actress was highly enjoyable in two of my favourite series of the 90s, namely Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Beverly Hills 90210.
That said, the film is still bad. Avoid it without hesitation!
The Legend of Darkness Falls is a fairly clichéd horror film, unlike the characters. But that just goes to show that just because the protagonists aren’t clichés doesn’t mean the film is any good! Especially as they leave us fairly indifferent and the actors are far from convincing.
Despite the fact that the film starts off really well, there’s 0 atmosphere, 0 emotion and 0 horror. Does this mean that the only people who will be scared of this film will be young children? It seems that for everyone else, this film will be a real curse!
The beginning is very promising, but then, unfortunately, it goes downhill. There are better horror films, but there are also worse ones. The special effects aren’t great. It’s just one of those films you only watch once. Then again!
If you’re scared of the tooth fairy, then have fun being scared, but if not…
I’m sure there were people at the time of its release who thought it was the best film of its kind, that it had been a long time since the American film industry had produced something like this, with a good, solid story and an impressive atmosphere that makes it a truly successful horror film. But I wouldn’t have been part of it in the first place!
No, really: learn from it… everything you shouldn’t do in a film of this genre!
That said, it was fun to make a film about darkness for once. This film is still better than Don’t be Afraid of the Dark (2010) or Mama (2013), which were successful but which I hated.
Jonathan Liebesman has never been an incredible director for me, apart from his Ninja Turtles (2014)! But I’m not very objective, given that I’m a mega-fan of the Ninja Turtles.
He made Wrath of the Titans (2012) which was much worse than the first opus which was already worse than the original 1981 version. Yes, just because you have better resources and special effects doesn’t mean you make better films, that’s obvious!
He directed The Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning (2006), which I hated like all the other films in the saga.
I haven’t seen World Invasion: Battle Los Angeles (2010), but I think I already know everything I need to know about it!
Great!
To conclude, I’d like to say that I really liked the beginning, but also the end of this film.
And that’s it!
