Vicious (2025)

Oh dear! Another bad new film. It’s been a surprise ever since! We’ve lost count of the number of times we’ve been disappointed by modern films. And this one just drags on and on and on…
What an ordeal!

There’s no need to create new forms of torture with this kind of film. No, Vicious won’t renew the genre. No, it’s no match for It Follows (2014). No, it’s not original. Yes, there are jump scares! There are elements of Smile 1 & 2 (2022 & 2024), Truth or Dare (2018), The Box (2009), Saw (2004) or Amityville (1979 and its 2005 remake), among others.

Dakota Fanning in another failed film. Her performance is always remarkable, but then again, we’re used to that. It’s a shame she’s choosing her own films now. I don’t think she did as a child. All she does is add a gory film to her filmography and doesn’t manage to save it by a hair’s breadth. Just like the rubbish that was her film last year, The Watchers (2024). Catastrophic!

This film is very unhealthy, with mutilations, but also full of incoherence. It’s hard to get into a yarn you don’t believe in for a second. Once again, the story was great on paper, but I found it mostly boring.

Honestly, there’s no point in making a film if it’s going to have such a lousy script. There’s no need to even talk about it, because that’s giving it a bit of importance. Please move on!
