In Time (2011)

Not so bad, actually!

In this film, the concept of ‘time is money’ is exploited to the fullest! At least in this film, death is more respectable and painless… which is not the case in our so-called civilised society, where you are left to die a slow death.

Justin Timberlake, Amanda Seyfried and Cillian Murphy are very good, once again. This trio is really talented. As for Olivia Wilde, we don’t see enough of her, so it’s hard to judge her performance, even though it’s moving. It’s nice to see her, but I would have liked to see more of her.

The plot could be revolutionary, but unfortunately it sinks to the level of a shoddy B movie. A film with an idea that I find truly original. Unfortunately, too much originality kills originality. Or at least it ends up becoming tiresome and confusing. It becomes complicated and you no longer want to understand it, even though the parallel with real life is quite accurate.

Time, money…
There will always be criminals, people who want more, people who want to become immortal and others who, on the contrary, want to end it all quickly and take their own lives.

The fact is that respect is being lost and we should indeed think about saving every life, not just our own. But we could philosophise for hours about the rich, the poor, the good, the bad and the rest.

A film that may not have been hugely successful, but which had good ideas, good scenes and good actors. Action and reflection. Not to be dismissed, and worth watching at least once. It is still science fiction, which will not appeal to those who dislike the genre. Others will be able to see the philosophical messages and draw parallels with our lives today.

Rating: 2.5 out of 5.
