The Night Watchmen (2016)

What a shame! It goes too far; otherwise, it would have been perfect.

It’s definitely nice to watch comedy films. Especially horror comedies! Especially when you’ve watched loads of horror films and are starting to get fed up with the overload!

This film has some pretty good actors and a decent sense of humour. But I feel it ultimately goes too far with the gore, yet again. It crosses the line that the excellent Zombieland (2009) didn’t cross, but which Shawn of the Dead (2004) had already crossed. It’s still very good entertainment for fans of comical vampires or absurd horror.

A film that came at just the right time, following on from The Vampire Diaries, the 8th season of The Walking Dead, the IT remake, and so on!

Synopsis: Blimpo the Clown, a true national treasure, has died abroad from a mysterious illness. His body is sent back to the United States and delivered to a Baltimore newspaper, which has instructed a team of four night watchmen to guard the body until the following morning, before it is transported to the funeral parlour. But Blimpo bursts from his coffin and bites with all his might, turning his victims into rabid bloodsuckers. The team of night watchmen, along with a journalist, must face a pack of hungry, evil vampire clowns. Will they be able to hold out and prevent the plague from spreading throughout the city?

Rating: 3 out of 5.
