Potty Mouth – Potty Mouth EP (2015)
An exceptional self-titled EP!
FYI, Pottymouth is the name of the first studio album by the American punk rock band Bratmobile, which was released on June 8, 1993, by Kill Rock Stars. We miss Bratmobile so much.
And what a shame: Pottymouth doesn’t exist anymore either!
When you go to their Instagram page, you get the familiar message: “This page is unfortunately unavailable. The link you followed may be broken, or the page has been deleted.” I can’t access their Facebook page either. They used to be found under pottymouthgirls.
You can still hear a few songs on SoundCloud. But that’s not much! Potty Mouth had twelve singles, two albums, three EPs, and a live album. This band from Los Angeles, CA, is one of those groups I never got to see live, but I’ll never forget.
Fortunately, there’s also Bandcamp. You can listen to their second album, SNAFU (2019), there. As for their first album, Hell Bent (2013), you’ll have to look elsewhere for that one! I think you can still find it on physical CD. None of their albums are sold out. This just goes to show how little this trio was known or appreciated. What a lack of recognition! Have fans of Pop Rock, 90s Alternative, and Pop Punk become too demanding? Too saturated with music? Too nostalgic and not trusting enough of new bands? Yet they should be proud that these bands carry the torch of the ones they loved back in the day, of all the descendants of true Punk (themselves inspired by the best bands of the ’60s).
The last three remaining members were Abby Weems (lead vocals), Ally Einbinder (bass), and Victoria Mandanas (drums and backing vocals).
Kate Meizner came in to play guitar on the last few tours.
Phoebe Harris played guitar, provided backing vocals, and occasionally sang lead vocals. She was with the band from 2011 to 2014. And Ali Donohue played guitar and provided backing vocals only in 2014.
This EP was recorded in 2025, right after Phoebe Harris left the band.
Potty Mouth was around for a decade, from 2011 to 2021.
I’ve listened to these five tracks both in order and in reverse order (from the last one to the first). I had a lot of fun and I never get tired of them. I still love this band as much as ever. The sound, the rock power, the dissonances, the arrangements, the vocals… everything is exceptional.
The last track is called Truman Show! 😀
The excellent tracks Smash Hit, Damage, and The Spins are NOT on this EP. It just goes to show, they really only made exceptional tracks.
So, I can’t wish this band a long life… but I hope they come back someday! I really don’t want real musicians to disappear or for AI to take over the Alternative scene.
