The F in F Marry Kill obviously stands for Fuck! It’s that famous game of ‘Who would you sleep with, who would you marry, and who would you kill?’ here in all its glory!
Not a film that really grabbed me! Stories about girls talking about their love lives and dating sites just aren’t my thing, like so many other things. But here, a serial killer is also on a dating site. Nothing original, but the film is quite funny. There are some pretty funny moments in every scene. The trio of actresses—Lucy Hale, Virginia Gardner and Brooke Nevin—really make the film! The others are decent, but they don’t have that little something that makes these actresses stand out.
I’ve only seen Lucy Hale in horror films, though I’d love to see her more often. This extraordinary actress, with her very expressive face and eyes, appeared notably in Fantasy Island (2019) and Fear Island (2009). Lucy was also in the very good Scream 4 and the fabulous Truth or Dare. I’ll certainly be continuing to explore her filmography.
If you’re in love with her and might get jealous seeing her kiss loads of men, give this film a miss! I never thought I’d be writing that in one of my reviews one day!!!
As for Virginia Gardner, she appears in the fairly decent Killer Party (2018), also known as Monster Party. She plays one of the two lead roles in the romantic drama Beautiful Disaster (2023). If you want to see her in an action-packed adventure film, check out Fall (2022); for die-hard horror fans, she’s in the 2018 version of Halloween. I haven’t seen Starfish (2018), but it’s a drama with a sci-fi slant, if that’s your thing. As for Tell Me How I Die (2016), a thriller, I’d love to see it and I hope I won’t be disappointed.
Not much to say about this film. It won’t leave much of an impression on me and I’ll probably forget it in a few days, but on reflection, I can’t hate it. It’s a bit ridiculous, but the humour isn’t bad. It’s less violent than 7 Psychos (2012), for example, which is a comedy with some surprisingly violent and gory scenes. It’s not a romantic comedy. It’s still a film with killers and bullets to the head or in the stomach, as well as throat-slittings and other acts of violence. Whereas this film doesn’t have that sort of violence.
A nice, entertaining bit of a watch, but nothing more.
