Pet (2016) This film is a dud! It’s good to see one of the highly enjoyable actors from the Lost series again. The main pair of actors are really good. The trailer is great, the story is interesting, the cover (poster) is pretty well thought out. But!!! There’s that famous But!

You’d think I loved this film, but in the end… I hated it! Because, you wonder what’s going to happen, you want to know the ending, you get sucked in and hypnotised by the plot. The main female character is a woman you want to see kidnapped. She’s arrogant, but attractive as hell. But we want her to understand the values of life.

The male character, we get a good sense of his loneliness. But in the end, he’s so lost that we end up feeling more than pity for him. The ending is as unhealthy as you could wish for, and everything that would have happened in a Hollywood happy ending is missing here. I was looking forward to it, because the film announced that there would be constant plot twists right up to the last minute. That said, we don’t believe it any more. The film is well constructed at the beginning. Now I’m wondering: how can you have such interesting ideas, make a good film for an hour and then botch it in the last half-hour? What happens to the policeman’s investigation? Does he give up? And the boss? A waste of my time, maybe not 100%, but a waste nonetheless!

This review – which I’ve just found – concludes mine : “Starts promisingly, then crashes! The film gets off to an interesting start: a stalking story with a romantic undertone. Then the plot descends into the absurd and all we see is a bloody duel between two psychopaths whose fate leaves us completely cold.”
