The Incredibles 2 (2018) It’s called “Les Indestructibles” in french which has the same meaning in English : The Indestructibles. Yes ! It is Incredible!!! This animated film appears fourteen years after the first, but it begins where the plot of the first left off, as the Indestructibles try to stop The Demolisher from robbing the Metroville bank.

The Incredibles 2 (2018) is a Walt Disney Pixar film that can be classified as Action, Adventure, Animation, as well as Comedy and Science Fiction. In the Pixar timeline, it comes just after Coco (2017) and before Toy Story 4 (2019). One film a year, that’s not bad at all! The press is quite taken with Brad Bird’s film. The editors of Le Parisien wrote: ‘The film is so successful that it should be a milestone in the history of animation’. For Libération: ‘Brad Bird’s film shines with its action scenes and avoids the pitfalls of bland sequels’. Director Brad Bird also does the voice of Edna Mode! Holly Hunter & Samuel L. Jackson are also among those lending their voices to characters. John Lasseter, whose favourite film is Dumbo (1941), is once again executive producer here. He directed the first two Toy Story films and produced the third. He was due to direct the sequel after writing the film with Andrew Stanton. Lasseter explained that Pixar decided to produce the sequel because of their passion for the franchise. But in the end, he wasn’t involved.

That said, there will be Toy Story 5 in 2026. Its story will be about the rivalry between screens and toys, a very contemporary subject! This year, 2025, we’ll see Lilo and Stitch 3, on the other hand. This Incredibles is every bit as successful as the first. Incidentally, the first won the Oscar for Best Animated Feature in 2005.

It’s not easy to make a good sequel. Staying fresh without simply copying everything and remaining faithful to what made the first one such a success in 2004. The characters go a little further in their development in the sequel. The family experiences the loss of a job, the loss of a home, the discoveries of adolescence, childhood and infancy. This time, it’s the father who stays at home and the mother who takes center stage. It was hard for me to get bored. The almost two hours passed very quickly. I love superheroes and I was a huge fan of Pixar when they started out. It’s an explosive mix!

The humour is intact, the action breathtaking, the characters as touching or hilarious as ever, the villains as despicable as ever and the story as gripping as ever. The end credits are also brilliant, with music a la James Bond or Mission: Impossible. But that’s pretty much the case throughout the film, in fact! Can’t wait for the sequel in 2027… that’s 23 years after the release of the first part!
