Ghost Ship (2002) Nice! A rather watchable film. Indeed, it sets the tone right from the start. Quite horrible, but not too much. Gabriel Byrne isn’t an actor I’d specifically watch a film for… but it’s always a pleasure to see him. Whether as a priest in Stigmata, as the Devil in The End of Days, in Usual Suspects or even in the very lame Siesta! As for Julianna Margulies, I’m not a huge fan of hers, but she’s brilliant here.

Emily Browning is very young here. It’s quite funny to see her here again, to see actors in films where we didn’t know them before! Steve Beck has apparently only made two films that have been released on DVD. I don’t know if he’s made more, but his 13 Ghosts and this film have a lot in common. Both take place behind closed doors in dark places.

After that… both are good films… but neither is very good, or excellent. There are quite a few moments when you lose interest through boredom. They are indeed films worth seeing, and the actors are really good on the whole. Nothing to add, I think it’ll do…

Rating: 3.5 out of 5.
