I See Orange – Lonesome Joy (2023) EP
A band I discovered by complete chance. Or maybe not so much!
In fact, if I tell you that it’s the algorithms that brought them to my attention, it’s not really by chance, is it? Given that this is exactly the kind of band I’m into at the moment, I can only thank the abundance of these alternative indie rock bands.
The singer-bassist obviously reminded me of the bassist from L.A. Witch, who looks like… my own girlfriend! But that’s another story…
The name of the band is excellent. I don’t know if it has a direct link with the clown who serves as president at the start of 2025… but it’s hard not to think about it!
The band easily put orange hearts everywhere. Surprisingly, they’re from England, although I thought this time it was a band from the USA. Totally inspired, once again, by the 90s, whereas the video clip I saw of them reminded me more of the 80s. A very nice mix for me, who loves music from the 60s onwards.
The singer (whose bass sounds excellent) really looks particularly at ease on stage and in the clips. Much more so than the guitarist and drummer, but with experience they’ll become a must for fans of the genre.
We travel back to the grunge era, but also to modern-day Rock, passing through classic Rock or even into more Pop and College Rock territory. Their sound is ultra-skilled and ornate. The music can be heavy, but this trio always keeps in mind that the best songs must regularly balance groove, grace, power and balance.
With no Wikipedia page yet, the band is still far too young.
They’re on Facebook, Instagram, Youtube, Bandcamp, Soundcloud and Spotify, so there’s no need to worry about finding them.
This band has released four singles and this really good EP. Can’t wait for their first album and the rest!
