Black Phone (2021) Once again, I’m going to be much more indulgent and just say that this film is good 😉

The main character has good charisma for the part. As for the little sister, let’s not talk about her: if I had to give stars only to her, I’d give her 5 for her incredible performance. A hell of a child or a hell of a child… either way, she’s brilliant.

It’s quite nice to see Jeremy Davies back in a rather detestable role, whereas he was quite endearing in Lost. As for Ethan Hawke, I have to admit that I didn’t recognize him… and yet I knew that face looked familiar.

Warning: Spoilers Alert!!! Obviously, there’s something completely stupid about this film.
But the idea of a telephone that only plays messages from the dead in order to help the main character is relatively interesting.

The psychopath, who starts out rather nice and terrifying, is even more so with his clown mask. Even more so with his horrible clown mask.

The idea of the little girl having premonitory dreams is a good one, especially since her father doesn’t believe it or doesn’t want to see it. But the police believe her a little too easily in the end… even though the trail had already been blazed by the black balloons.

Anyway, I had a good time. Not too disappointed. I’ve seen much worse, and I’m not going to lump this film in with the worst. A fairly violent scene at the beginning, bloody fights between children, a father who beats his children, and a criminal who kidnaps them. It’s a bleak picture, to be sure. But, fortunately, it doesn’t get any worse. You can either get bored of the fantasy or find it interesting.

The film is full of good ideas. But if it’s to take its place as a masterpiece, it’s going to have to be better and better.

PS: A film based on a short story by Joe Hill, a nickname for Stephen King’s son!

Rating: 3 out of 5.
