Smiley Face Killers (2020) I was quite bored with this film. And yet, I gave it two chances. I wanted to see it again to see if there was anything to salvage. And since I’m in a good mood, I’ll still give it two stars.

Because the story is interesting. Even though it feels like we’re desperately waiting for something to happen, it’s probably important to talk about the fact that people are disappearing, probably killed by serial killers, and then found dead, drowned in some weird way.

Urban legends or not?

The film is about the fact that you can have a certain disease and people only see you through that. If you stop taking medication and you make a big mistake, you will inevitably blame it on medication and bad faith… whereas the truth is quite different. Like in the movie “Smile” where the main protagonist is taken for crazy, especially because apparently her mother was crazy and it must be hereditary.

A film that doesn’t leave any hope and that, without a doubt, has the pretention of wanting to inform through a horrible story.

The actors do relatively well, the sexual scenes are well done and not disturbing and Crispin Glover is in the game! Even if we can wonder why. He is far from his excellent role in “Back to the Future”.

The suspense is present, but becomes a bit ridiculous at times. No or few jump scares, although we often expect them. And that’s a good thing too.

What kills the film is its slow and long rhythm. It makes it easy to lose interest at many moments. And that’s very bad for a movie.

Rating: 1.5 out of 5.
