Green Lantern: Beware My Power (2022) was not my favorite DC, once again… but a very good opus nonetheless!
Recently discharged Marine sniper John Stewart finds himself at a crossroads in his life, a crossroads that is complicated when he receives an alien ring that grants him the powers of Earth’s Green Lantern. Unfortunately, the ring comes with no instructions,
but it does come with baggage, like a horde of interplanetary killers determined to wipe out every Green Lantern in the Universe. Now, with the help of a team, this reluctant soldier must travel to the heart of a Rann/Thanagar galactic war and succeed where all other Green Lanterns have failed.
In short!
Here, this soldier, now a new Green Lantern, meets part of the Justice League.
But not the most important members. Superman, Wonder Woman, Batman & Flash are all on a mission. But Green Arrow is there and teams up with him. Then they recruit these other members one by one, starting with Hawkgirl, followed by Adam Strange.
It’s a story that’s not necessarily ultra-interesting for everyone, because it’s mostly a fake war, because basically both clans are innocent, but it’s another super-villain who has manipulated everyone and destroyed part of the Green Lanterns. Plus, pretty much everything takes place in space. But it’s good that these DCs take place just about everywhere.
The fights aren’t bad at all, but I’ve seen better in the past.
Here, it’s the question of killing that again poses a problem, as in the last Batman cartoon: The Curse that Brought Gotham Down.
Do superheroes kill when they’re pushed too far?
A new page is turned if the answer is yes.
It means that our era is becoming more and more negative and that this evolution is not necessarily a good idea… but it is unfortunately becoming necessary.
To be continued…
