Wyrmwood – Road of the Dead (2014)

Successful Zombie movie! 

This film and its sequel are between them the Australian equivalent of the entire Walking Dead series!

Films that ride the wave of the zombie subject. 

The first one dates from 2014, 4 years after the Walking Dead started.

We’ll have to wait 7 years to see the second one. 

I had first seen its sequel before I knew that there was this film already before. 

So I watched this one as if it was a prequel… which it is, by the way!

It didn’t seem too strange to me, since prequels are in fashion nowadays. 

I had written in my review of the second opus that the second ones are always less good. But I liked it better. So, we can ask the question differently: is it the first one we see that becomes our favourite? 

Very brutal, violent and gory film. You’d expect it, but surely the Australians are pretty good at being gross. We can base it on Peter Jackson’s Bad Taste, for example. 

Anyway, the direction is impeccable and even impressive. 

The two main actors, who will be seen again, are great. 

Here we see Brooke’s beautiful brown eyes. Because in the sequel, we will see almost only her white hybrid eyes. 

I may well see the third film I have not yet seen by this director, Kiah Roache-Turner, entitled Nekrotronic (2018). 

It might be another surprise, more or less good.
