No Escape Room (2018) is an indie horror film starring relatively unknown actors. Sometimes it is said of short films that there is enough material to make a feature film. Here, it’s the opposite: this film should have fit into a duration that could have been its half-time. It’s hard to talk about this film and to define it. I really thought it was a film at the beginning. And the further you go, the more you see that it’s a TV movie. The pacing totally shows it towards the end.

This film is again an experiment, a kind of nightmare and a big delirium. It is impossible to take it seriously. You wonder where you’re going with all this. The protagonists have a strange tea at the beginning of the film. We don’t know if it contains some hallucinatory substance. But in fact, it is the viewer who gets into this trip. The actors are more or less correct.

The beginning can be watched. But it goes from a good thriller to a haunted house movie. Then you start to lose your bearings as it goes in all directions. Towards the end, there are inevitably those relatively disgusting scenes that I could have done without. After reading all this, if you still want to see it, it will be to share the experience. Like any experience, everyone lives it differently. For my part, I will clearly not see it again. But the entertainment aspect was nice for the time of the film and the ending is not too bad.

Rating: 3 out of 5.
