The Drone 2019 is a comedy movie directed by Jordan Rubin. He is already responsible for the film Zombievers (2014)! If I hadn’t known this detail, I don’t know how I would have taken this film. Once again, we see that he appreciates pretty, sexy women, and he certainly must attract quite an audience with this.
After an hour and three minutes, it descends into gore. Up to this point, the director’s touch is clearly evident. All in all, I found the film a good laugh at times. There’s some really funny dialogue. You’d think this movie was so lame, ridiculous and pathetic… it’s good!
That said, there’s something much scarier: We can laugh at all this, and at the silly drone subject matter. But who’s to say it couldn’t become reality a lot faster than we think? After all, drones are already used to kill in some areas. Why shouldn’t they get out of control? Here, it’s taken to the extreme: a serial killer is struck by lightning, and he’s holding the drone at the same time. As a result, his mind passes into the drone, which is controlled by the psychopath’s mind.
Yes, that’s it! Alex Essoe is the lead actress, but she’s not incredible. She plays badly half the time. She’s less believable than the man who plays her husband, John Brotherton. Anita Briem, used to lots of B-movies and small films of all kinds (which generally go unnoticed!), plays the bitchy next-door neighbor.
And that’s it!!! You know everything you need to know about this film. Now it’s up to you to decide whether you want to get in on the fun!
