Not too bad. I’m not going to put this film down.
I am aware that it is above all a film for teenagers, even children. And that if I had seen it as a young teenager, I would have loved it.
Nevertheless, it’s not an excellent film, which could perhaps have had a better ending, because we don’t really know what happens.
Will Tarzan stay in the jungle for good? Will he return to England in a sequel?
The special effects are impeccable. Exaggerated, of course, and not really believable as an adult, but does it really matter?
Christoph Waltz is definitely collecting roles as the big, bad villain!
He was perfect and obnoxious in Inglorious Bastards and perfect as a highly irritating character in Carnage. Here, he’s less memorable. Is it because he takes less trouble in a mainstream film? He’s still a very good actor.
Alexander Skarsgård is not bad as Tarzan. I didn’t know this actor.
He looks frail and fragile, even shy. And suddenly we discover the beast within him. We wait a long time for the action. Once it’s there, it’s there, and it hardly stops.
It’s not clear that this actor is the talk of the town. He’s certainly recognized by the magazines as a sexy man, but what’s he worth when he’s playing a role other than Tarzan?
Will there be a sequel?
Samuel L. Jackson…
Surprising man. This excellent actor seems more interested in having fun than anything else. He doesn’t seem to choose his roles based on their challenge. It’s always a pleasure to see him.
His French dubbing isn’t his usual one, and that’s just not on.
Margot Robbie is a surprisingly charming actress.
I’d thought she was overdoing it in Suicide Squad. But seeing her here, in a completely different role, makes me reconsider my judgment of her. It was nice to see her as Jane.
But I would have liked to see more. I’d have liked to see her swinging from vine to vine too.
Not an essential film, but it makes for a good time, even if the ending leaves you wanting more.
