Unwelcome (2022)

Unwelcome (2022) is an Irish folk horror movie. Oh dear! How tiresome. This film is really terrifying… it’s so boring! For me, it’s obvious: there’s absolutely nothing to save! Bad acting, relatively bad acting. None of the characters are endearing (which makes it even harder to watch), a succession of ridiculous scenes, swearing, vulgarity and gratuitous violence. Absolutely no subtlety! A film that doesn’t make me want to go to Ireland.

It’s been said that this film is “a mixture of Gremlins and Home Invasion“? That’s an insult to Gremlins (which is the only masterpiece by Joe Dante, who has made many more disastrous films to throw away too!) and to Home Invasion films like “Panic Room” and “You’re Next“! Big waste of time! I don’t think I’ll be going back to this director any time soon: all his films look like crap.
