Salt (2010) is an American action film starring Angelina Jolie. I had wanted to see this film for a while. But I thought it was going to be an intellectual film with a few action scenes. I didn’t think it was an action movie with a little bit of time to make a little story!!! So… for over an hour I thought “at least it’s a good action movie.” But it’s so over the top (too many scenes I didn’t believe for a second!) that by the end, I definitely said to myself that it’s just good “quick seen, quick forgotten” entertainment.
Phillip Noyce is capable of the worst and the best. His early films with Harrison Ford were very decent. I liked The Saint, Calm, White, and Sliver, but they’re not masterpieces either. There are none of his films that I could live without, none that are essential to my collection. Shame! Having said that, the trio of Angelina Jolie, Liev Schreiber, and Chiwetel Ejiofor is very enjoyable. It works very well here and all three have very interesting roles. By the way, my favourite film by this director is probably the other one with Angelina: Bone Collector. I will try to see his latest with Naomi Watts…
