The Cottage (2008) So… for me, it’s a quick look! The film lasts about 1h26… and every 20 minutes, the film has lost a star…

So it only has one star left! It’s a pity, because I would have liked to take away a lot more!!!

The film starts as a detective film with a comic content… but from the second third onwards, the film intensifies to become a solid splatter, all in a very British way… but how I don’t like it!

I love British humour, but I hate gore. With Shaun of the Dead, it was okay.

Just barely, but it passed! I’d have to try and see Severance to end this glut of British horror-comedy.

“Bienvenue Au Cottage – The Cottage is a tepid comedy with stupid dialogue and zero suspense.

Humour?

It’s possible that I just didn’t understand the film in the eyes of fans of this kind of crap, but I found it absolutely bad. Bad acting, stupid dialogue, and on top of that a Britney clone with big boobs that were always right in the middle of the picture to prevent the viewer from falling asleep. Ridiculous!

But hey…

At first I thought “Excellent! This is so funny I’m going to love it!” But as soon as the butchery starts… bof!

And it really sinks into ultra violence. The film isn’t just a bit weird. Not much happens in the end, as people get stupider and stupider and keep going in circles instead of doing what they have to do. This stupidity and the behaviour of the protagonists really hurts.

A small film that could have been enjoyable and entertaining with its two, three good ideas. But the whole thing is really not very funny.

Once again, a good idea. Unfortunately not nearly as funny as the description of the film would have us believe.

Come on… enough wasted time! Next!!!

Rating: 2 out of 5.
