Morgan (2016)

Morgan (2016) is an action horror movie also known as Morgane (EU title). The film features a splendid cast of Kate Mara, Anya Taylor-Joy, Toby Jones, Rose Leslie, Boyd Holbrook, Michelle Yeoh, Jennifer Jason Leigh, and Paul Giamatti. Oh my! It’s hard! Hard to find a film that is good from start to finish! Good direction, pretty good actors, intriguing story, interesting, slow at the beginning, full of action at the end, good dialogues… But that’s not enough! Precisely: the action scenes are too spectacular, we don’t believe it for long, the twists are phoned in, some characters are a bit useless, as they are well introduced, but we don’t take the time to really develop them. All this for what in the end? Just to have a good time? Well… it’s a failure, as we feel cheated!

I’ve just written this review when I still have fifteen minutes left of the film to watch… but I don’t think the last few minutes are so incredible that I’ve decided to change my review. Ah… Yes, it is! I just finished it and it is with good faith that I will put three stars instead of one. The ending is indeed not bad. It could have been a masterpiece, but it just isn’t. Still, it’s worth thinking about.
