Instinct (2019) is a 2019 Dutch crime drama film directed by Halina Reijn which it stars Carice van Houten and Marwan Kenzari.
Catastrophic! There are plenty of ways to make a criticism. I could just say “Carice Van Houten thinks she can rest on her laurels just because she’s in the Game of Thrones cast.”
But I’m going to take it a step further! Thank you all for giving me room in the reviews to be able to shoot down this lousy movie!
One thing is for sure… she’s not a sure thing. She easily joins the clan of people who make a film no good if they are there.
Everything that makes a film good… is absent from this film! A great film has good dialogue, good music, actors with charisma, a good story and good pacing. None of that for this Dutch crap!
Halina Reijn should have stayed an actress and never started directing. What a waste! Waste of time, energy, money, film. A stupid story, perverse manipulative games without interest. A film that gives a false image of everything! It does not show the seriousness of rape. It even manages to play with it. A woman is seduced, then raped, then she seduces again… before taking revenge while enjoying it… which shows that she is also becoming bad. This is to play down the seriousness of the crime. It also gives false ideas. Some may believe that they have been abused without realising it. And all this gives way to false debates and fights.
There is nothing artistic in this turnip that seems so long, so bored. Yes, I could speak for myself, but I’m sure I’m speaking for a lot of people who will feel the same way.
It should be noted that the weakness of the main character in the film is sickening. Very poorly directed, badly made, boring as hell: welcome to the line of films that deserve lots of negative stars!
