Nirvana – Live at the Velez Sarsfield Stadium, Buenos Aires, Argentina, October 30, 1992.

I’m not sure where you can listen to this album. I think it’s on SoundCloud, but that’s definitely not my favorite website anymore!

I don’t think I’ve ever been disappointed by a Nirvana live album. That said, it annoys me when I hear people say that Unplugged is their best work, when for me it’s their worst. And yet, I still love it. But I think that people who love Unplugged don’t necessarily love the band.

If you like a punk or rock band and want to introduce it to your grandmother, she’s more likely to enjoy Unplugged than the first album!
Anyway!

More than thirty years after his death, Kurt Cobain continues to amaze me. His creativity was limitless. He may never have taken guitar or singing lessons, but what he played was incredible. What’s more, he respected women, loved music, hated capitalism, and so on. He was a super-intelligent guy who preferred to come across as a fool rather than waste time explaining or justifying himself.

Nirvana knew how to put on incredible live shows that were different from their albums. Their stage arrangements were very interesting. Kurt also sometimes enjoyed singing fake lyrics or repeating a single word over and over instead of singing phrases. His humor was caustic.

Starting a live show with Breed, ending it with Territorial Pissings, and including the Nevermind version of Polly, but with a little more drums, is a real treat. Especially since Kurt asks Dave to do a drum solo at the end and Dave replies that he’s not really a drummer!

There’s also a musical improvisation towards the end and the fabulous bass playing of Krist Novoselic, who is the least known member of the trio. Yet this American musician, politician, and activist co-founded the band and played on all of their albums.

What a pleasure it is to hear Beeswax, Drain You, Spank Thru, In Bloom

As you can see, I could go on writing for a long time and even turn it into a book. In any case, I never tire of it. My passion for Nirvana has never stopped growing.

Rating: 5 out of 5.
