Rage (2014) In french it’s called : Tokarev (2014)

This film has nothing to do with Stephen King’s excellent book. This is a total other story. It was already pathetic to see the league into which Nicolas Cage had already stooped. This film was just another step on the road to downfall. And yet I love this actor. You can tell he’s having fun and not getting in over his head. That’s just the way he is! It’s especially a shame about Peter Stormare.

It’s well known that Cage produces almost nothing but very bad work. This is the second time these actors have been reunited, it seems to me. The first was in the excellent “8MM” in which Joaquin Phoenix also appeared, with blue hair no less. So bad that it’s almost… still good! I wonder, after seeing this film to the end, how it’s possible to produce such bad films.

We know the story, that’s not the problem, but the direction is catastrophic and Nicolas’s haircut looks particularly funny this time. Peter Stormare probably needs the money. That a fundamentally gifted actor like him would accept such a role is sad. Who really wants to see a film that’s bad from A to Z with various ‘old stars’ like Danny Glover? Rachel Nichols is also in the film, but we don’t see much of her. She’s also unfortunately a regular in a lot of bad films. It’s a shame…
