The Dinner Party (2020) Totally Lame !!!

Yet another film I’ve had to sit through twice, simply because I’d forgotten or hadn’t bothered to write a review after seeing it. As a result, I’d forgotten how bad it is and how much I’d already hated it the first time around. It’s a good thing there’s no such thing as too much of a good thing!

A film that obviously won a prize: the New York Movie Awards!
I say that because it’s common for the worst films to win something.
Just look at Titanium or Poor Things. Indeed, this turnip is really ultra bad.

Too unhealthy for the humour to be really funny. With all the usual tricks of bad films: gore, exposed tits, cannibalism, vomit, an intro that’s far too long, dialogue that’s meant to be interesting but is instead ridiculously redundant…

In short! The list goes on !!!
We can add the pierced neck, full of knife necks in the belly, but still alive!
Oh, I forgot the broken bottle on his head, too.

Basically, I’d never want to see a Miles Doleac film again in my life… but seeing as he managed to cast Rachel Nichols in one, I’ll give this other one of his two films a chance. But if I see, after half an hour, that it’s going in the same direction, I’m going to cut the film and shoot it in a review without even taking the time to find out how it ends. There are directors who ruin film for nothing and I don’t think they’re worth even a second’s interest.

Is there any good in this film?

Well… there’s some two-bit justice, but it’s very similar to Rape’n’Revenge, except it’s Murder’n’Revenge here. But the very end is twisted and quite dark. The lead actress is very expressive and carries the film well on her back (although I couldn’t care less about her career), despite some pretty poor direction (sometimes things happen so fast you don’t really understand what’s going on in the action scenes), because she’s the only one you hang on to.
But even that’s something you end up regretting…

🌟🤦🏻‍♂️
